Manzanillo is known for its sportfishing. The catch includes marlin, sailfish, etc. An international tournament draws competitors from around the world. Competitive and devoted fishermen should plan their trips to Manzanillo for late November or early February when the International Sailfish Tournament takes place. During the event, fishermen bring 100 marlin per day, and prizes include cars, plane tickets and the like.

The cost to enter is approximately $430, which includes a celebratory awards dinner at the end of the competition.
